Food for Thought. Bake Sale.
For some reason Stony Brook has weird policy with selling baked goods; if you ask us, we think that’s ALL that should be sold on campus… But have no fear. Check out the Hospital Cafeteria today– WISE is selling lots of treats, from babycakes (ahem, cupcakes) to pie to brownies. They’re drool-worthy.

February is almost over, and we can’t believe that Spring Break is in just a couple weeks. Where is that warm weather? Tonight, help us celebrate the closing of Black History Month. There will be guest poet Dr. Patrice Nganang, lectures by special speakers, and student performances, including the speech by the winner of the [...]
S is for… Simons!
Psst. S wants you to be the first to know of this AMAZING news: The Brook is receiving $60,000,000 from Dr. Jim Simons and Dr. Marilyn Simons– Dr. Jim Simons used to be a chairman for the Mathematics Department at The Brook and his wife was once a grad student here…. We want to you [...]
We all know how bad food starts to get mid-semester. That’s why S invites you to join us at Kelly Dining sometime this week– Executive Chef’s Kitchen is the perfect opportunity to learn and eat real food (and a chance to give your two cents to the chefs who create our meals). So far there [...]
At the Brook. Free Newspapers.
Of course S loves The New York Times. So, when we found out the NYT has a special rate for students ($20 for the entire semester!), of course we bought it. And while we love knowing that we can get our paper every day, we found out that we really didn’t need to pay for [...]
S is for… Snow Day!
As of 11 AM today, classes are cancelled. Courtesy of S, of course. Which “S” you’llĀ have to figure out.
Go have a snowball fight– it’s the perfect snow for it!

We thought we’d share one of our favorite poems with you today….
Where the mind is without fear and the head held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear [...]
Sick of campus food yet? Au Bon Pain soups are great, but can we really have them for 2 weeks in a row? And without Starbucks, the Union is looking bleak for a nighttime coffee and dessert. Fear not, my fellow Brookers, there is a solution: Stony Brook Express Delivery.
We are not endorsing the business, [...]
Style Note. Galoshes.
S is so sorry about not updating yesterday. Air Net is not on good terms with us right now.
In the meantime….. to cope with all this crazy weather we’ve been having, we suggest an easy footwear that will get you from snow to sleet to April Showers without the slightest hint of soggy socks. Pick [...]
Food for Thought. Kelly Brunch.
We thought you might like to know that Kelly Dining changed up their weekend hours…. and menus. Kelly Brunch is being served on Saturdays, but Sunday you can grab food from the Dining Center without having to pay $7. Don’t worry– everything that you would want at Brunch is still offered– waffles, omlettes, muffins, and [...]
