S is for… Strawberry Fest!
Ah, the joys of living on Long Island. If it weren’t enough that school is almost out, Stony Brook is hosting their annual Strawberry Fest today, during Campus Lifetime, in the Academic Mall. Expect chocolate covered strawberries, strawberry ice cream, strawberry waffles, and much much more. Please take photos and turn up– this is an event you don’t want to miss!

S is for… Cinco de Mayo!
OK, ok, so it doesn’t exactly start with “S” but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate!! It’s the last full week of classes this semester, and the weather is supposed to rock. We suggest heading over to Green Cactus for some authentic Mexican food, and then heading over to Staller to see the Chorale– It’s $5 a ticket, and it should be a nice break from our decline into finals week…
Oh– and have some pan de dulce– it’s our favorite part of the holiday!

To do.
To all those WISE girls who danced the night away– hope you had fun! We all wish we could have been there, but we definitely will be stalking some photos on Facebook…
Yes, we know the weather is terrible (why weather gods, why?), but make the trip to Roth pond today– it’s the annual Regatta, and every year the event just keeps getting better. Rain or shine, there will be boats– and plenty of them; last year a giant Converse seemed to be the crowd favorite. What will it be this year? There should be music and food, so grab a hot chocolate and be happy that you aren’t the one that has to maneuver that cardboard likeness– there’s bound to be some accidents and S doesn’t want to miss this.

Noon to ? at Roth Quad.
PS– For the rest of the weekend, we recommend starting to study for finals. Yes, lame, but believe it or not, they are fast approaching and you don’t want to pull all nighters for this semester…

At the Brook. Surgeon General.
While we knew Stony Brook was good, we didn’t know it was this good. A SB alum, Rear Admiral Steven Galson, is now the Surgeon General of the United States, and he will be giving a talk in Health Sciences this afternoon, at 4 PM. We wish we could go, but we’ve made other plans. One of YOU should definitely RSVP and book it to the speech– not only is it going to be good, but there will be a reception afterwards, so you might just get the chance to speak to him and other distinguished faculty. Learning and networking? That’s what college is all about, isn’t it?

We’re Back.
S is so sorry to leave you in the dust, with nothing to do except twiddle your thumbs. And we have no excuse: these last couple of weeks have been packed full of activities and things to do, from Earthstock to the Red Hot Revelry today on campus. But we promise that we will try to keep you as regularly updated as possible from here on out.
While the night is still young, head out to the Baskin Robbins across the street… on the other side of the LIRR station. Today is 31 cent scoop day– what a perfect way to get your sweet tooth fix and still save money– after all, meal points must be getting low for everyone. BR closes at 10, so hurry!!!

It’s that time of year again. SSK’s Art Festival just kicked off yesterday, and Earthstock is tomorrow. If you’d like to volunteer for Earthstock, check out their link on the school homepage– you’ll get a free t-shirt and food (which is always nice around this time of year). We highly suggest you do it; it’s a great experience and the weather is going to be lovely!
